Soft Porn: Softcore

The soft porn, also known as softcore, is a form of pornography that is, basically, situated between erotica (artistic nudity) and hardcore pornography (extreme un-edited images of sexual activities). It’s less explicit than hardcore material and expresses pornography without exaggeration. In the soft porn, any sexual contact is usually simulated. It is similar to the hardcore porn at the point that the soft porn also shows extensive nudity and sexual situations with the intention of arousing the viewer.
The essential difference, however, is that the soft porn doesn’t include some hardcore porn elements, such as shots of any penetration (vaginal, anal or oral), shots on an ejaculation or an erect penis. It’s a matter of taste, because many people think that hardcore is disgusting for being too explicit. The soft porn includes many pornographic materials, such as literature, films, pictures, sculptures and painting, using high-art aspirations, differentiating such work from commercial pornography.
The majority of the erotic magazines available in the stores are made with the concept of the soft porn. Playboy is one of the famous magazines that use the nudity in an artistic way, without showing too much of the women’s genitals and don’t being vulgar. In the soft porn movies, the soft porn is usually practiced by mature people, involving actors which are commonly older than the typical age of twenties, contrary to the hardcore porn, that constantly shows young people having sex.
The vision that people have about the soft porn, however, can vary according to the culture of the country where they live. Many individuals view eroticism in some scenes at the media, for example, and believe that what they see is soft porn. Entertainers such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton and Janet Jackson already have been accused of soft porn and blamed of pushing soft porn onto children. That’s why the soft porn definition is too difficult: every person has a different view of what is pornography.
